CinePoems Cyprus Festival 2025 - Poetry on Screen 

CinePoems Cyprus Festival launches its first edition in 2025, as part of the Poetry Moves International Festival.

It will take place on 

16.10.2025 

at ARTos House in Nicosia.

Dedicated to the fusion of poetry and moving image, this new platform invites poets, filmmakers, video artists, and performers from around the world to explore poetry through film. 

Each year, CinePoems Cyprus Festival — as part of the Poetry Moves International Festival — shares the same annual poetic theme.

2025 Theme: Trees, Roots & Symbolism

Be one of the first video artists to take part in this new, visionary festival — and help shape its identity from the very beginning. Your work won't just be shown — it will become part of the foundation of a platform that celebrates poetry in motion.

There are no entry fees for submissions. Entrance for the audience is free.

Awards

All selected films to be shown in this first edition will receive an award of €100.
New productions (2025) will be awarded €150.
The films to be presented in this 1st edition will be selected by a jury of photographers, filmmakers, and visual artists. 

Submission Guidelines - Deadline for entries:

- Submit via FilmFreeway: https://filmfreeway.com/CinePoemsCyprusFestival

- There are no entry fees for submissions.

- We invite short films based on poetry, with a maximum duration of 10 minutes.

- All languages are welcome — Video artists are free to choose any poem in any language, as long as the videopoem connects to the theme. If the poem is not in English, the video should be made understandable to an international audience — for example, by including English subtitles, using visual storytelling, or creatively blending languages. The key is that the poetic message remains accessible and meaningful.

- To encourage international exchange and introduce Cypriot poetry, we suggest a few Cypriot poems with English translations. These are for inspiration — use is not required.

- There are no restrictions on the year of production — both new and older works are eligible.

- Deadline 20 September 2025

- All participating video artists will be informed of the results by 27.9.2025.
